As a kickoff to our Dig Into Reading Summer Reading Club, a few employees of Jefferson County Open Space brought their very own backhoe to the Golden Library on May 31st!

The backhoe’s bucket was decked out with a display of books and kids got to climb in and out of the seat where the operator sits!  Open Space employees presented information about the kinds of things backhoes are used for and answered questions.

Do you believe in the Easter Bunny?  Jack Frost?  How about the Tooth Fairy or Santa Clause?  Well, the Rise of the Guardian movie has them all!

The Standley Lake Library will be showing this movie on Saturday, June 29 at 11:00 am on the big screen in the meeting room.  Bring a pillow or blanket and snacks to enjoy while watching.  No tickets required!

Did you know that there is also a book about the Rise of the Guardians?  You can ask for it to come to the library nearest you by clicking on "Request" at the top of the page.

Eight very talented kids wowed the crowd at the 1st Annual Columbine Library Talent Show on Monday the 24th.  The audience was treated to a variety of talents including a martial arts demonstration, choreographed dance routines, guitar-playing and some fantastic singing.  We hope to make this an annual event, so start practicing your act for next year, now!

To catch the next fun event at your library, check out our Event Calendar today.

See reptiles at the library!  Check our Events Calendar to find out when Canyon Critters will be at your library

We will be showing the proper and safe way to handle different reptiles and almost all of them are able to be touched by those curious enough.  As a rescue, Canyon Critters will also discuss responsible pet ownership and mistakes people make when choosing pets.

Please note that some shows require tickets.  Tickets are available beginning a week before the show date and can be obtained online in our Events Calendar, by phone at 303-235-5275, or in-person.

Well, thanks again for a great bunch that showed up for the Lego Club. This time I challenged them to creat a rocket ship to Mars (which might happen in 2018) OR create an underwater living area to help you survive. Our next meeting is July 18th at 3pm. That theme will be fantasy/mythological creatures. Put your thinking caps on, look up and read about some mythology, and come filled with ideas. Here are some photos from today.

Conifer's first ever LEGO club was held today with astonishing success. I'd like to thank everyone who participated, the parents that gave their time to bring and work with the kids, and the donations of LEGOs, Megablocks, and Duplos to encourage their creativity and imagination. Stop by the library and see these creations in the Conifer Library display case.
