Who We Are

Established in 1952, Jefferson County and its public library system are nestled in the beautiful foothills of the Rocky Mountains, just minutes west of Denver, Colorado.

In addition to an ever-growing Online Library, Jefferson County Public Library offers a diverse collection of more than 1.3 million books, audio books, eBooks, CDs, videos and DVDs. The Library also participates in Prospector, a partnership of 26 academic, public and special libraries in Colorado and Wyoming, offering free access to more than 27 million books, CDs, DVDs, videotapes and other materials.

We offer highly requested children's storytimes and other programs for kids and teens, as well as a research collection and book discussion groups for adults and the whole family, and free classes on using the Internet and searching our resources.

Library patrons annually check out items more than 7.5 million times, and visits to our Online Library exceeded 4.8 million last year.

Seven of our 10 libraries are open six days a week. The library's annual budget exceeds $25 million.
