We are excited to announce this year's Golden Reads selection. Mayor Marjorie Sloan has picked Long Man by Amy Greene.
Long Man tells the story of Yuneetah, Tenn., a small town about to be flooded by a Tennessee Valley Authority dam project. When three-year-old Gracie Dodson goes missing, the handful of remaining residents race against the rising water to find her, at the same time struggling with the gradual erasure of their home. Greene blends historical fiction and suspense with poetic meditations on the landscape and traditions of Appalachia.
We're hosting an author visit with Amy Greene in September, featuring local food trucks (including Still Smokin Fusion BBQ and the Bakin' Bakery) before the reading and book signing. Get tickets and take a trip to hill country at Golden Reads.
