Homebound Services Extended to Jeffco's Westminster Residents

by:
Bethany

Great news for Westminster residents who live in the Jeffco part of the city - we are partnering with the Westminster Public Library to extend homebound services to that part of the county. JCPL’s Homebound Service is for people who are unable to come to a library due to a permanent condition or temporary condition lasting longer than three months. Through this service, we arrange for the delivery of library materials via home delivery or by mail.

Westminster is interesting when it comes to library services:

  • The City of Westminster provides library services at westminsterlibrary.org and through two locations, the College Hill Library and the Irving Street Library.
  • Jefferson County residents living in Westminster are also served by JCPL via jeffcolibrary.org and two libraries located in nearby Arvada - Arvada and Standley Lake Libraries.
  • Adams County residents living in Westminster are also served by Rangeview Library District. Adams County residents would not qualify for JCPL’s homebound services.

Jefferson County residents living in Westminster may apply for JCPL’s Homebound Services online or call 303-275-6161. Homebound Library Service applications are also available at both Westminster Public Library locations.

Art Stop on the Go @ Arvada

by:
Bethany

Oh to be a kid again! How fun would it be to create art based on some of your favorite books? Heck, that even sounds like a good time as an adult.

We've partnered with the Boulder Museum of Contemporary Art to present an art-making workshop at the Arvada Library each month based on popular kids books! A visiting artist will help your kids express themselves through a variety of art media, with the emphasis on creativity and fun!

This free program is designed for 6-12-year-olds and takes place from 4-5 p.m., the fourth Friday of each month through July, at the Arvada Library. Registration is not required; participation is limited to the first 30 participants.

We certainly didn't have anything this cool around when I was a kid - I'm tempted to swing by just to see the masterpieces that are created!

New Parenting Book Group

by:
Bethany

Parenting. Sometimes it can seem like an overwhelming responsibility. There's so much you need to be thinking of that you might not know where to begin. You might want to hear more than one perspective on a topic before deciding what will be best for your family. To provide some assistance with the monumental task of being the best parent you can be, we've started a brand new book group just for parents at the Arvada Library

On the second Wednesday of each month at 2 p.m., parents are invited to attend this book group and discuss the selected topic. From Brain Development to Toxicity, we'll be covering a number of important issues. While there's not a specific title to read each month, we do offer suggestions, but you're not limited to those.

Feel free to bring along your little ones - we'll have storytime, books and coloring sheets for them while you're with the group.

Tax Help at JCPL

by:
Bethany

Benjamin Franklin once said, "...nothing is said to be certain, except libraries helping with your taxes." Ok, so that isn't exactly what he said, but it has a ring of truth to it and tax season is here. But fear not, dear countrymen, the Library will again be offering free tax assistance to our patrons.

Each year,  we partner with AARP to offer free counseling and preparation assistance to all taxpayers, with special attention to those ages 60 and older. Beginning Feb. 1, IRS-certified volunteers will be at several library locations to help with any tax-related issues people may have. Space is limited for this popular series, so patrons are encouraged to arrive early. You'll need to make a reservation if you're planning to go to Evergreen or Golden

We also have several online resources, and limited copies of select State and Federal forms in our libraries.

Good luck and happy filing!
