The backhoe’s bucket was decked out with a display of books and kids got to climb in and out of the seat where the operator sits! Open Space employees presented information about the kinds of things backhoes are used for and answered questions.
Eight very talented kids wowed the crowd at the 1st Annual Columbine Library Talent Show on Monday the 24th. The audience was treated to a variety of talents including a martial arts demonstration, choreographed dance routines, guitar-playing and some fantastic singing. We hope to make this an annual event, so start practicing your act for next year, now!
To catch the next fun event at your library, check out our Event Calendar today.
You can pick up a copy of the book at the library, read it, then come and let us know if you liked it or not and if you would recommend it to other kids. Hang out and enjoy the activities, games and fun!
The group is “drop-in” which means, just come on in and join us.
There are lots of book discussion groups at the library for kids and adults. See the book schedule for all the upcoming books and discussion groups at the JCPL libraries!
Have you heard of the Lambda Literary Awards? For 25 years, the "Lammys" have celebrated the best in gay and lesbian literature. This year's Awards ceremony will be held in New York on June 2nd. There are a little over 20 award categories and more than 100 finalists nationwide.
It just so happens that 6 of this year's finalists live in the Denver area, so JCPL thought it would be neat to bring them in for a group reading for the public.
The Belmar Library is going to host the reading on Friday, May 10th, from 6:30-8pm. You'll get a chance to meet the authors, ask questions, get autographs, and hear some really great stories.
The Recycled Lamb Yarn and Fiber Arts store will join us for this special storytime, featuring stories about fiber arts, including a demonstration of weaving, spinning and rope- making. Kids will learn a new craft, while adults will learn about this exciting art form.
