Belmar Library Temporarily Closing for Renovations, Enhancements
(LAKEWOOD, Colo. - Jan. 17, 2008) The Belmar Library, located at 555 S. Allison Pkwy. in Lakewood, is closing for renovations from Jan. 21 through Feb. 15, 2008. Nine other Jefferson County Public Library locations will be open during the Belmar closure.
"We are very excited that Belmar will soon be able to provide these new, and quite popular, self-service alternatives," said Belmar Library Manager Marjorie Elwood. "As the second busiest Jefferson County Public Library location, we serve more than 575,000 people annually - that's nearly as many people as visit Red Rocks each year! We are eagerly awaiting the completion of the renovation and invite the public to visit us once we reopen."
When the library reopens it will offer new self-service options, including eight self-check units and a holds pickup area. The library is also adding six more patron computers, bringing the total to 49.
While closed, the Computer Training Center and the Friends Gift and Book Shop located inside the Belmar Library will not be available. However, the exterior book drop will remain open and book donations will be accepted at the staff door between 10 a.m. and 5 p.m. daily. Library materials can also be returned at any other Jefferson County Public Library location.
Holds with the Belmar Library as the designated pick-up location will be available at the Lakewood Library during the closure, 10200 W. 20th Ave., unless other arrangements are made.
The Lakewood Library is also offering additional storytimes to accommodate Belmar patrons during the closure. Storytime schedules are available in the children's rooms at each library and online at

Once renovations are complete, Belmar Library staff will be hosting an open house on Saturday, Feb. 16 beginning at 10 a.m. Light refreshments, music, storytimes and other activities for children will be offered.
For questions regarding holds, or to renew items by phone, please contact 303-235-JCPL (5275).
