American Born Chinese by Gene Luen Yang
American Born Chinese is by Gene Luen Yang, This book is about a monkey that has many adventures and and about a kid that has a hard life in school. What the readers need to know in this graphic novel is that it teaches thoughtful messages about tolerance and acceptance. The art work in this graphic novel is awesome! There's some sexual things in this book, also potty mouths, fighting, and a kind of graphic scene in which a monk is stabbed by a spear and put on a spit over a fire. I enjoyed reading this book because it has pictures and its easy to read. I think you will like it too. (12/12/11)

Bottled Up by Jaye Murray
Bottle up by Jaye Marray this book was amazing because the story in the book seems real and written by teenagers like me. I think she wrote it because she wants to let us know how is the life of drugs and because she doesn't want us to live the life that they have with the drugs so I rate this book a 5 because is a good book and is thing that some people are living in this days.
This book is about that pip have problems whit his that so hi use drugs to forget his problems and he skip his classes and the principal tell him that he have to talk to he parents and pip was scary because if the principal call his that his that his going to kill him so pip have to go to a consoler and the way the principal is not going to call his dad. (5/27/11)
oscar, 15
When I read that book I thought that it could be a real story because some teenagers do a lot of drugs and sometimes it’s because their parent don’t care about their families. I loved how you describe “Pip” because you made him sound like he was a real person. All over the place there are kids like Pip and I think that it’s really sad seeing a kid like that and their parents care but all they do is abuse them. I also loved Mickey how he always asking about M&M’s. I REALLY RECOMMEND THIS BOOK TO TEEN!!!!! (5/27/11)

The Boy in the Striped Pajamas by John Boyne
The Boy in the Striped Pajamas by John Boyne is a story not so much about drama and compassion but more of a message that we can learn from. It was about hatred and all these horrible things that one child saw and other adults didn't. It is a truly outstanding book that left me speechless at the end. There is not a better book to read than this one. It is realistic, dramatic and moving. The book takes you away from the world for a moment and makes you imagine the suffering that was felt. I highly recommend this book to all sensitive people who want to know more about the Holocaust. (12/12/11)

Bone by Jeff Smith
I love this book! I had to read the first book in my school's book club but I ended up reading the entire series and I so wanted to tell them what happens at the end but they had only read half the book :(. It is really interesting to get to see it visual so there isn't much imagination to it, but I love the two monsters, they are so funny! I rate this book with 4.5 starts out of 5. (6/3/11)

Paragraph final "Ghost Circles" by Jeff smith. This book was amazing because the book is fiction. I think fiction books are really fun to read. They made this book so the people can laugh about it. I give this book 4.5 out of 5 start because it’s really funny and is good book to read. Now I’m going to tell you about this book. Well this book is about 3 animals cousins the the new this girl and her grandma and there this other animals named rat creatures and they always rued everything and they have to get to the ghost circles because if not ht e girl will die because the rat creatures affect her. Worst book ever. There is no plot. Nothing much happens. The main character is a jerk. He just walks around, gets drunk a couple times and complains about people. He calls everyone else phony, when he is the biggest phony in the whole book. I hated it. (5/8/11)

by Kate Wild
I read the book I did not read the whole thing but I read most of it. I rated this book with 4 stars. Initially I say this because this book is a great book but some parts are kind of not good. I recommend this book to anybody who likes to read about fights. Even though this is a fiction book it is still good.
Eventually when you read this book you can tell that it is definitely a fiction book. You can tell this because the author uses many fake things you see in fighting movies. I think many girls would not like this book. To finish this off if you like these fiction fighting books I recommend it to you. Hopefully you have a chance to read this. (6/3/10)

The First Part Last by Angela Johonson
Angela Johnson spins yet another cleverly crafted tale with an African American protagonist. Bobby isn't done being a kid himself when he discovers that his girlfriend, Nia, is pregnant with his baby. Each chapter is titled either "then" and "now," comparing how Bobby was before Feather, his baby, and how he was after. A truly beautiful book with an easily understandable plot, I recommend The First Part Last to readers of realistic fiction. (6/21/2011)

Flags of our Fathers by James Bradley
Non-fiction. Great author my dad recommended the book to me.
This book is about the Marines on Iwo Jima but mainly the six that rose the replacement flag but became the flag in the most famous photograph in history Flags of Our Fathers begins in 1998 when James Bradley (son of John Bradley one of the flag raisers) travels to Iwo Jima to post a memorial to his father. The story takes place on a February day in 1945. Two days after the Marines landed on Iwo Jima, one of the bloodiest battles of World War II, five Marines and a Navy Corpsman (James Bradley’s father) placed a replacement flag on top of Mt. Suribachi when the picture was taken and processed it was shipped around the world and people thought the battle was over….yet it only just begun. The book goes through the life of the 5 Marines and the navy corpsman from when they decided to enlist to when they got home only 3 made it home. In this book I wouldn’t have a favorite character it would be all the military personals that where in World War II. For any one who knows about World War II already knows the conflict and how this book will end. My favorite part would be when they raise the flag the first time and the second time. (5/16/2011)

The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins is an interesting book because in the future of North America there are twelve strong and cruel districts that are forced to send one boy and one girl to join in the Hunger Games, a cruel fight to the death on live TV. I liked the character of Katniss Everdeen who has to make choices between survival against humanity and life against love. The Hunger Games are no joke. These young kids have to fight till the death. Jonas by Eden Maguire
I read the book BEAUTIFULL DEAD by EDEN MAGUIRE and I rated this book with 5 stars. I did because this book is full of suspense and mystery that will keep you wanting for more and more. This book is very interesting because it won't get you bored and you will enjoy it like I did. This book is mainly about the resurrection of 5 teenagers that "THINK" they're dead when there not. The main character DARINA has to pass through a tragicall moment in her life that is her boyfriend's death and her other friends deaths. Darina's mission is to help one of them find out how or what cause their death so that they can finally rest in piece. I recommend this book to older kids that are into the mysterious things and are curious about what happens after your dead. I know you kids will enjoy it because it's full of suspense and each event will keep you more curious about whatâ€â"¢s going too happened next. I really enjoyed this book so I really recommend it to you and don't miss the second part called "BEAUTIFULL DEAD" (Arizona). (6/1/10).

The Late Great Mexican Border: Reports from a Disappearing Line by Bobby Byrd and Susannah Mississippi Byrd
This book is about two couples that want to be together and they want to be happy in the united states and when they go to California and cross the border they are exited and they started living in a safe house for a while and when they go to los Angeles because their destiny and they started living in an apartment and then husbands gob was ok for a couple and their first kid was rano in the book does not say his real name and then they started to have problems and then the mother has 3 more children their nick names that were on the book are cuca, ana, and bird then they are starting to have more problems and they are moving house to house and sometimes they sleep under some bridges and I think that is sad because they kind of poor and sometimes they sleep with strangers so they prefer to go back to México and start over again but the problem is that the kids don’t know any Spanish and the dad gets the same job as principal and the mom is a house keeper like the other moms!
in the pueblo and the kids go to school and rano the oldest brother graduates from school and helps his family out and all his other brothers graduate from high school and go back to los Angeles and they go to college there the middle one gets marry with a woman that is from Aguas Calientes a place in México that place is so pretty is like in the mountains in here and I think is better in México because over there is always hot sometimes cold but it feels fresh when it’s cold and is not that cold like here that is freezing and that is my book (5/26/11)

Awful book. Full of angst. Why don't you just combine it with Twilight and call it good? Very predictable. Dorky girl with awful parents finds out she has magical powers. Good book, good series, horrible ending. Well, not exactly. The ending was really good all except for the fact that they made Gale become a complete jerk! Grrr! He was my favorite character! Mercy, Unbound by Kim Antieau
Mercy Unbound is a type of book that young teenage girls can relate to, all girls/ females, at one point or other have self image issues or worry about ‘fitting in’ and doing anything possible to ‘fit in’. I chose this book because I had started to read it when I started class, but I never finished it because I didn’t really feel like I could relate to it. Then I decided to give it another try and read it, it’s a really good book.
The book is about fifteen-year-old Mercy O’Conner thinking she is becoming an angel, she says she can feel her wings growing out of her back. Mercy doesn’t eat, and her parents have begun to worry about her. They check her into a treatment center in New Mexico where she meets other girls with eating disorders. And at first she feels out of place because she’s an angel and not an anorexic. But after a while she finds herself fitting in with a group of girls, they are all supposed to help each other get better but they all refuse to eat and prefer to remain anorexic. Mercy doesn’t believe that she’s an angel because she’s crazy but because she wants to help ease the world’s misery.
Later in the story, Mercy runs away from the treatment center, and loses her memory. She finds herself in Tucson, where extra-terrestrials, spirits, and Indian folklore are part of daily life. When she is found, the couple that found her, could have sworn to have seen wings on her and they found her naked. They took her in and you will have to find out the rest for yourself.
When I finished reading the book I wanted to know more, I didn’t want it to end. It’s a really interesting story, you might think ‘it’s just another girly drama book’ but its not, even if you don’t quite relate with it, its still a story that gives you feeling towards the subject. I definitely give the book 5 stars and I recommend anyone to read it, but especially young teenage girls and parent of kids with eating disorders.(5/16/2011)

Night by Elie Wiesel
Night was whitening dairy of a well known Jew called Elie Wiesel he survived the holocaust. Maybe you have seen him in the Opera show? This book isn't just some book that some author invited. No this sad story is about a young boy who lost his family and goes through this terrible nightmare with his dad. This book is amazing and emotional story that touches you! And if I was to rate this book I would give it at least its five stars because its so touching and emotional like the time he was being whipped by an SS Officer because he walked in on the officer having sex with a Russian girl. The SS Officer decided that his punishment was going to be, being whipped and letting everybody watch. So no other prisoner would go in the way a officer.
This book started off With Elie already benign about two are three years in to the holocaust. They haven't heard about Germans going to their city. After a few meeting the Jews weren't allowed to go to school. And weren't allowed to go into some cafe! And by a few months the Germans took over and deprived them from their homes. Then putting them on a train sending them to Germany a place named achwitchs. To some of the nastiest and ugliest prisons there! I promises you once you start this book you're going to never stop reading! (5/27/11)

Of Mice and Men by John Steinbeck
The book I want to talk about is Mice and Men by John Steinbeck. I would give these book four out of five stars. Because I really liked it but I didn’t like the ending of the book. I thought it could have been better but after all it was a great book. The book was about two brother’s lennie and gorge lennie is the slow one. the one that has the mind of a 12 year old kid and gorge is the smart one of the brothers lennie is the big scary looking one and gorge is the short one but the handsome one the one that takes the action of both of them and lennie is the one that always has to do something to get them in trouble. Now am going to talk about some parts I really liked about the book. I really liked this part of the book where they both have to run from the law and hide out for a couple of weeks and then they are walking and going from place to place. Also when lennie fights this guy named curly and it was because of the wife they had a fighting seen with it. I recommend this book to other kids that like an adventure. Over all I really liked this book and I hope more people like it to. (5/26/11)

Once a King, Always a King by Reymundo Sanchez
I recommend the book Once a King Always a King by Remundo Sanchez to young adult readers. It tells you about Reymundo's life, about being a burden, and being unwanted in his family. Anyone who has suffered abuse in their childhood can relate to this book. This book is a true story with real events about gang affiliations. If you are curious about gangs this book is a must read. This book talks about how Reymundo becomes a "Latin King" gang member and how being a King affects his life. I enjoyed reading this book because it taught me a lot about the life of a gang member. The Outsiders by S. E. Hinton
The Outsiders has always been and will continue to be one of my very favorite books. It's a story told as if in conversation with someone else, there's not much elevation of the prose above the reader, you know? It's very plainly told, which sort of cheapens the effect of Hinton's writing. The key thing here, though, is that it's a story which is relatable for everybody, regardless of generation or gender or race, the whole bit. It's a story which applies as much to the greasers/yuppies of the mid-twentieth century as it does to the subcultures of the budding twenty-first century, and the reader doesn't necessarily have to work very hard to make this connection. This, I feel, is the mark of a truly splendid novel. (9/21/11)

That book caught my attention easy and so far it's a great book. I would recommend this book to teens and also if you like sports. Peak by Roland Smith
an exiting and riviting tale from start to finish. this book will certainly take you up one of the biggest peaks.... in the world! (9/27/11)
raechel, 11 (12 soon)
Peak by Roland Smith. This book was about a boy the want to climb the mountain everest and the mount everest is 29,000 ft. I rate this book a 5 stars because this book I think is a very good book for teenagers when I start to reading the book of peak for the first time I think it was going to be very boring but I when I got into the middle of the book. The book of peak became very interesting because peak goes to climb the mountain with some friends and he leaft his mom and sisters at home very depresing.I think if people read the book of peak they are going to like it because in some parts of the story it’s very funny and other parts are interesting. I think when some people goes to climb a mountain they feel the same emotion like peak and his friends because when peak got to Thailand peak find one of his friends name zopa he was the person who show how to climb the mount everest to the dad of peak.
When peak saw zopa in the airport they went to a hotel for peak can rest and the next day zopa and peak went with a doctor for they can check peak and the way zopa know if peak is ready to climb when the doctor start to checking peak. The doctor say to zopa the boy don’t have nothing he is ready to climb when they were walking to the hotel again peak was taking to zopa when are we going to buy all my stuff for I can climb the mountain everest. Peak and Zopa were eating and zopa said to peak can you stay here I’m going to do a phone call zopa call the mother of peak for he can say the peak is already in thailand the mother of peak said to zopa all right you can go to the bank and take out the money for you can buy all the things peak need to climb. I will recommend the book of peak to a lot of friends because this book is very cool and I recommend the book to the people who want to know the story of a boy name Peak the he climb a mountain of 29,000 ft and the people who wants to know what things they use to climb very high mountains. Peter and the Starcatchers is pretty much the story of how Peter Pan and Neverland came to be. Love it! :D It's like a mature version of Peter Pan only...not. I really don't know how to explain it to give it all the credit it deserves, so you should just read it because it's really a great book!! (11/7/11)
