July 4 - All libraries will be closed for Independence Day.
The Jefferson County Library Foundation hosted its annual Volunteer Recognition Luncheon on Saturday, April 18th at the Lakewood Cultural Center. Volunteers gathered for a catered lunch and awards presentation, followed by a showing of 42nd Street.
In an effort to show appreciation for the hard work and dedication of our amazing team of volunteers, JCPL and the Foundation presented three awards at the Recognition Event that are given annually to individuals that have impacted the libraries with their service.
The JCPL Leadership Award, recognizing a volunteer who embodies a spirit of selfless dedication and commitment to Jefferson County Public Library, was presented to Robin Roberts a volunteer at the Lakewood Library. Robin is an incredible volunteer who comes almost every day, Monday through Friday, to Lakewood Library to pull expired holds and to shelve media. He always comes with a smile and is happy to be helping the staff even when there are 6 to 7 carts of holds waiting for him.
Dale Bussman, a volunteer for our InterLibrary Loan Department, was given the Volunteer of the Year award, recognizing a volunteer whose contributions of time and talent over the past year have had a positive impact on the quality of programs at Jefferson County Public Library. Staff say that his arrival in the department has been a godsend! He helps fill the gaps in staff workflow, mailing out items, sorting the statewide delivery, taking care of packaging the incoming mail, returning items to their home libraries – and no matter what staff asks him to do, he just jumps in and gets it done.
The Elena Joyce Grissom Lifetime Service Award, recognizing a volunteer whose enduring contributions of time and talent have had a significant impact at JCPL and JCLF, was awarded to Kay Rowland, a volunteer who helps at Golden and the Foundation.
Kay is a super-star volunteer, serving as the Vice-President of the Friends, helping with the Whale Sales, jumping in to assist with admin tasks, maintaining the used book shelves at Golden, volunteering at the Friends Gift Shop at Belmar, and helping us in so many other ways!
Thank you to all of our dedicated volunteers for making a difference in the library.
