Jefferson County Public Library and Jefferson County Library Foundation congratulate Kym Shain on being named June’s Volunteer of the Month.
Kym Shain has been volunteering at the Evergreen Library since June 2013, averaging 23 hours per month. She is an amazing volunteer and a “Jack-of-All-Trades!” Kym is capable of doing any task asked of her—no matter how small—with a positive attitude and willingness that is truly appreciated. She helps us with everything—shelving holds, magazines, and AV materials (very speedily!), bundling and outgoing delivery, pull lists, and any miscellaneous tasks or projects that come up.
On top of our normal daily needs, Kym also works in our Donation Room, focusing on the Children’s items that come in and helping to keep that area organized and running smoothly. Kim has regular days and times that she comes in to work, but often puts in extra time by noticing something that needs to be done when she has come in as just a patron or by staying later than normal. She is definitely missed by Pages and staff when she is gone and it makes it obvious how much we rely on her help!
For the last 2 years, she has also helped with the Used Book Sale during our Holiday Open House. Kym has set aside books—organizing and boxing them up; helped with set-up; manned the room and covered open shifts if we did not have a volunteer signed up; and helped with the clean-up after the sale.
We are very fortunate to have Kym volunteering at Evergreen Library—she is a vital part of our Operations team! Thank you, Kym!
